(Alterna Colour Hold + UV Shampoo and Conditioner, Orofluido Hair Mask, Loreal Colour Vibrancy Dual Protect Spray)
About one year ago I made the decision to no longer be a blonde. After getting highlights for quite a few years (as it was the cool thing to do when I was 15) my hair had turned prodominately hay yellow and just wasn't cutting it for me any more. I was desperate for a change and wanted to escape the ritual root touchups that I had become accustomed to. I settled on a return to my natural hair colour which in my mind seemed like a very simple process. However, this has not been the case and my hair has transitioned from light brown to orange to dark brown and back again over the past year. To date, my quest to rediscover my natural colour has only ended in heartbreak, although this time I feel that I may have had a breakthrough.
After being referred to Frederic Fekkai by my agency (Two Management LA) I was delighted to hear that they specialised in a semi-permanent gloss. This seems like a great way to aid my return to natural colour and I was fairly happy with the result. I wanted to keep the ends slightly lighter so that when it fades, it does so more naturally as my hair is really prone to being bleached by the sun (which is the reason for it always fading to an orangey golden light brown).
I was advised to invest in some hair care to minimise the fade out and sun-bleaching. I had no idea that shampoo and conditioners could actually have SPF qualities so that was in itself was a life changing discovery (given the harshness of the californian sun). I've been trying out this colour hold UV protection shampoo and conditioner by Alterna and so far the results have been great my hair feels glossy and seems to be holding the colour really well. This Orofluido hair mask and Loreal heat and UV protection spray also have my hair feeling nourished and are definitely doing wonders for my damaged ends.
I've never been a fan of haircare (there are just so many other good things to spend money on) so this is new territory for me. I would love to hear what products you all swear by?

Great post and great idea for your hair!
ReplyDeleteUV protecting products are such a good idea. I tend to destroy my hair first, then look for products that will help restore it. Might just have to give this a go now!

Had no clue hair was in need of uv protection but yours looks gorgeous! I think the darker color really sets off your skin and eyes. I've also never been one to fuss with my hair but when my hair gets dry I will comb through some sort of oil in damp hair (jojoba, coconut, or good olive), maybe putz around for a bit then shampoo it off at the end of my shower. It really helps to restore luster and moisture!
