JUMPIN' JUMPIN'

Jumpsuits are definitely one of the most sartorially challenging items to wrap ones head around.
I am yet to meet a man who likes the jump-suit, excluding the jumpsuit's shorter and decidedly skimpier sister- the playsuit. Let's face it, a little bit of leg exposure can fix almost anything. On the other hand women usually love the way they look; legs lengthened (check), small waist accentuated (check), wide leg disguising any problem areas (check) and perhaps concealing a pair of chunky wedges for added height (check).

"What's not to love about the jumpsuit?" I ask.
"Well, it looks like you're wearing a sack," my boyfriend responds.

Alright, so it's back to the drawing board on this one...

TRANSITIONING

Dressing for a seamless transition from day to night is nothing new. But for those of you who (like me) have neither the time nor patience for cocktail rings, leather jackets and heels stashed under work desks, here is my four-step guide to day/night dressing on the go (and work desk free).

My advice is to choose something short and sweet with details that suit your personality. For me the high neck and structural fold in the front of this dress are perfectly me and make me feel at ease and not too over-dressed even during the daytime.

There is nothing better than an oversized men's denim shirt (or plaid shirt) for an understated day-time look. Chuck it over your LBD, scrunch up the sleeves and you're good to go. If it gets hot simply knot it around your waist for an easy-going 'I couldn't care less' look.

A pair of classic flats that Audrey Hepburn wouldn't bat her (perfectly manicured) eyelashes at, are essential for a seamless and shoe-change-free transition from day to night. Although this may seem like an unremarkable choice for nighttime, a simple flat guarantees that you remain chic but relaxed. Did you know that Ms. Hepburn always bought her shoes a half-size larger? Life is too short to waste time limping around town.

Finally, the clutch, an uncomplicated and rummage free option for when you are on the go; best friend to those of us who travel light. This lovely clutch is chic, simple and the perfect size for all my must-have items. A big thank you to my boyfriend's mother for intuitively filling this hole in my wardrobe!
